ROTO SEPTIC TANKS

The Rising Column of the pit is specially designed to drain easily. The pit drains in the usual way by pumping with a tanker truck. Don’t forget to open the manhole before draining to allow the hose to enter the septic tank easily. The pit should not be completely emptied of means to allow residues allowing microorganisms to dissolve worn materials. The pit must be filled with water.

INSTRUCTION INSTALLER

Dry field installation method
Dig the site, leaving a minimum of 150 mm around the base and the pit costs and level the bottom. If upgrade stakes are used, they should be placed at the ends of the hole, away from the septic tank.
Make sure the hole stays dry and pump any rain or runoff water that may be in the hole.
A bottom of at least 200 mm of fine mixed concrete must be provided.
Place the septic tank in the hole using ropes or belts using the suspension carnations. Under no circumstances should the ropes be attached to the entry and exit pipes.
Line up the entrance hose with the drainpipe. Lift the pit with about 0.5 m of water.
Fill the space around the pit with gravel or similar materials. The clogging should not contain organic material, large stones or bricks or sharp objects. Clogging should be done in ticks, ensuring that no empty spaces are left on the sides of the pit or under the pit, and that there are no localized concentrations of pressure.
It is important that the installer gradually fills the pit with water up to above the clogging level to stabilize the pressure on the pit.
Remove the lids and connect the pipes. Don’t thin the pipes.
Continue clogging to ground level.
The top of the manhole should not be below ground level. If necessary. an extension can be added to lengthen the manhole.
Ventilation must be made through the manhole or through a T-shaped room towards the entrance/exit.

Sanitation Disposal System :

The Roto Plastic Septic Tank was designed and developed by a team of experts after lengthy research. The ultimate goal was to develop and produce an inexpensive sanitation disposal system that would be quick and easy to install. Roto’s ready-to-use septic tanks became the perfect answer. Hundreds of these units are in operation throughout Rwanda, DRC and Burundi.

Working Process : The ready-to-use septic tanks from Roto, partially liquefies and breaks up solid waste by gasification. Through this anaerobic bacteria develops. Scum is formed, which floats to the surface. This reduces the waste to approximately 1/3 of its volume. Once full, the bulk of the sludge is pumped out by the local authorities or private contractors at intervals leaving a small amount to restart the action of the bacteria in the newly admitted sewage. The water that leaves the septic tank to the soak-away pit is clear and does not smell. This water can therefore also be directed to a sub-soil irrigation system.

Advantages : It is made out of polyethylene. These tanks are heavy-duty and are built to last.

  • It has low initial cost.
  • It requires no skilled labour , it is quick and easy to install.
  • It requires no maintenance.
  • Its unique shape is designed to withstand soil pressure.
  • It has a double chamber that ensures only clean water enters the soak-away pit.
  • Unlike a concrete tank, it does not allow seepage of water through cracks.

Can be developed for communities as well as individual domestic use.
